This month’s amazing edition of National Geographic marks the centennial of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act by declaring 2018 the Year of the Bird, and features an article celebrating birds and their value to humanity by the inimitable Jonathan Franzen. I invite everyone who has a subscription to read it here. My favorite quote would be "the flight paths of birds bind the planet together like 100 billion filaments". It also contains stunning photographic depictions of bird flight patterns.
I hope our effort to bring people and birds together in free flight experiences through our falconry school and our raptor encounters will contribute to avian conservation by simultaneously entertaining and educating, and that we will inspire people to look up and appreciate these amazing creatures that can truly “rise above it all”. #birdyourworld
