Hanging out in La Jolla
Our Falconry Experience veteran Bunco attempts to convince a hang glider pilot that there’s enough wind to soar. Soaring brings raptors and free flight pilots together in both spirit and substance. On any given day, somebody has to launch first and lead the way into the sky. The first to launch is the “wind dummy”, and if they go up, pretty much everything else with wings quickly follows. Flying a ridge like Torrey Pines is like surfing a wave, but the waves in the air are completely invisible.
